Kendal has been at the forefront of innovative video productions in Saint Lucia.

Darnel Kendal John is a Saint Lucian film and television producer with over 25 years of experience in the industry. He holds a Double Major BA degree in Film Production and Television & Radio Production from Brooklyn College in New York. Throughout his career, Kendal has been at the forefront of innovative video productions in Saint Lucia.



His diverse portfolio includes the BET-nominated music video "King of My Jungle," the popular Caribbean décor reality TV show "Design Style" aired in Saint Lucia and the Tri-State area in the United States, and the co-production of Saint Lucia's groundbreaking narrative series, "Island Secrets." In 2013, Kendal unveiled his first environmental documentary, "Invasive Alien Species – Confronting the Threat," and marked his entry into narrative filmmaking with the short film "The Numbers."


In 2016, he received UNESCO support for his Saint Lucia heritage documentary, "Who Are You?" which was screened across the USA, the French Antilles, and as far as Taiwan. Most recently, Kendal released "Saint Lucia: The Wild Side," the island’s first feature-length wildlife documentary, co-produced with his brother, conservation biologist Lyndon John. This film, conceptualized nearly two decades ago, offers a rare glimpse into Saint Lucia's unique biodiversity and underscores the importance of conservation efforts.


Beyond his creative endeavors, Kendal serves as the Communications Director of the Cultural Development Foundation (CDF) in Saint Lucia. In this role, he leads strategic communications initiatives aimed at promoting and preserving Saint Lucian culture. Additionally, as president of the Audiovisual and Film Association (AVFA) in Saint Lucia, he advocates for the interests of local filmmakers on the global stage and plays a crucial role in training and mentoring youth and new entrants in the film and television sector, emphasizing adherence to international industry standards. Kendal is also a founding member of the Caribbean Alliance of Film and Television Professionals (CAFTPro), a regional initiative aimed at accelerating the development of the Caribbean film and television industry through collaboration and shared resources.
